About specific health checkups

A specific health checkup (tokutei kenshin) is a health screening carried out once a year for everyone aged 40 to 74. Its main goal is to prevent and detect early serious illnesses caused by metabolic syndrome (visceral fat syndrome), such as heart disease and stroke.

Unlike regular health checkups, which focus on early detection of diseases, specific health checkups are designed to quickly identify the causes of lifestyle-related illnesses and prevent them. The exams mainly include measurements like waist circumference, blood pressure, blood sugar, lipids, and liver function through blood tests.

This health checkup is for people aged 40 to 74 who are enrolled in medical insurance and is based on national guidelines. You can get it once a year, either for free or at a low cost, and it plays an important role in preventing serious illnesses before they occur.

It’s a great chance to understand your own health and reduce the risk of future illnesses. By getting checked regularly every year, you can maintain a healthy daily life.
